Karen’s main areas of practice are family law, with a particular interest in relationship property; elder law; estate planning, including wills, enduring powers of attorney and family trusts; and residential conveyancing.

She enjoys working with people from all backgrounds and at all stages of life, including when they are experiencing positive changes in their lives, such as buying a new home, or organising their affairs.

She is also mindful that many clients come through the door because they are going through difficult or stressful times in their lives. She greatly values the opportunity to work with these clients and always brings her empathetic and adaptable approach to achieve the best possible outcome.

Karen joined BGM Lawyers due to the company’s strong reputation and the positive team atmosphere that ensures every client receives the assistance they require from the most appropriately qualified staff member.

Originally from Wales, Karen immigrated to New Zealand and originally settled in Rangiora. Karen’s husband also grew up in Rangiora, so she has strong ties with the area. After being admitted to the bar in 2005, Karen worked for a few years in Otago, but returned to North Canterbury in 2008 to work at a local law firm.

After nine years, Karen moved to Christchurch with her husband and four children, but still cherishes the opportunity to continue her connection with the local Rangiora community through her role at BGM.

Outside of work, Karen is a busy Mum, supporting her children with their schooling and various activities. She also enjoys playing the piano and has a love of baking – when she gets the time.

Karen graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2004 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science.
